The two most important aspects of getting ranked high are external links to your site and keywords on each page.

• Keywords-You can use a keyword density analyzer to see the percentages that certain words appear. You have to have your page already set up and then you go to this link and type in the URL. You want your target keywords to be between two to five percent. It is not good to have your percentage too high or too low. If you need some suggestions for keywords to target, go to WordTracker.
• Once you have a list of keywords you want to use, arrow down your list to 30-50 that will describe your site to the best. With this list go to google and search search each keyword one by one. You are looking for the keywords that have the least competition. In the top right corner of the search results you will see the number of results for your search. Keywords that have under 500,000 is are ones that you could get ranked quickly on. Narrow your list down to 20 low competitive keywords and 2 or 3 other most relevant lists.
• External Links-The more links you have linking to your site, the better, but some links are more valuable than others.  Government and Educational sites carry the most weight; also, sites that have similar themes or topics will also get you ranking higher. The nice thing about this step is that it not only gets you listed closer to the top on search pages, but it also drives other traffic to your site.
